The follow up to the Chinese proverb in the title of this is post is, "because you just might get it." That seems to be the case.Lot's of exciting stuff went down in tonight's radio class. Two items related to SL and one related to micropodcasting and locative media are discussed in this 12 minute episode.

Hi Scott,
Your radio class sounds like a lot of fun. It seems that a lot has changed since I was a student! When I was at school I did a class called Media Studies, and it was quite disappointing. I can't really remember anything about it. I guess that technology has moved on quite a lot since then and is much more accessible to everyone. The internet is such a powerful tool.
By the way, I think students from overseas will have no trouble finding things to report on in Tokyo. Its such a vibrant and stimulating city. Even buying drinks from a vending machine and explaining the packaging which may not have much English (or strange English) on it, is a talking point.
Permanent or long term residents might have trouble reporting on such everyday actions.
Anyway, just a few thoughts.
I'm interested to hear what the results of the project will be.
Mark.
Thanks for the comments.
You're kind words are very encouraging. Things certainly have changed when we were in school. I think I would have enjoyed taking a class such as this when I was a student too.
Speaking of vending machines and the locative media project. I mentioned the idea to the student during the lesson. A few of them smiled and nodded their heads indicating that they liked the idea (or maybe it meant that they think their prof. is daft).
I had entirely forgotten that a large part of my shtick when I did another podcast in Tokyo involved purchasing a beverage from a vending machine and talking about sundry matters. Sometimes it worked.
I will certainly keep you comments on the matter in mind. I agree that something interesting could result from such an at first seemingly silly premise.
